Walker Out For Season

Quite possibly some of the worst words a receiver can hear are, "You have a torn ACL." But that is what Javon Walker heard on Monday. Walker, Green Bay's number 1 receiver, will be out for the rest of the season. In the third quarter of the Packers loss to Detroit on Sunday, Walker caught a 55 yard pass to be rewarded with surgery and an 8 to 12 month recovery period.
"Certainly his impact as a football player and as a person in the locker room is huge," said Packers coach Mike Sherman, "but I think our team will be fairly resilient in regard to that. People are going to have to step forward. When you have an injury like this, as difficult as it may be, it's an opportunity for other people."
The opportunity is going to Donald Driver, Robert Ferguson, and rookie Terrence Murphy. Murphy is coming off of an injury, but this is a time where he has to shake it off and prove to the coach and team he belongs on the field.
